Das Mönchehaus Museum Goslar vergibt das Kaiserringstipendium 2025 an die Künstler*in Evan Ifekoya. Die Entscheidung der Fachjury würdigt Ifekoyas herausragende medienübergreifende und forschungsbasierte Praxis, die gesellschaftliche Realitäten vielschichtig reflektiert und herausfordert. Besonders überzeugte die Jury Ifekoyas sensibler und zugleich kraftvoller Umgang mit Raum und Klang, der Momente spiritueller Resonanz und Heilung erfahrbar macht. Ifekoya lebt und arbeitet in der Nähe von London.

Evan Ifekoya (they / them) ist eine spirituell geleitete Künstler*in sowie Praktiker*in für Stärke und Verkörperung. Im Zentrum von Ifekoyas Arbeit stehen Themen wie Herkunft, Glaube und Zugehörigkeit – erforscht durch Praktiken des Selbstarchivierens und einer Fülle an gelebter Schwarzer Erfahrung (Blackness). Mit der eigenen künstlerischen Praxis möchte Evan Ifekoya ein tieferes Bewusstsein und stärkere Verbundenheit ermöglichen und Räume schaffen, in denen Befreiung und Zuflucht nicht nur Ideale, sondern gelebte Wirklichkeit sind.

2018 gründete Evan Ifekoya das kollektiv organisierte und von QTIBPoC (queeren, trans*, intersexuellen, Schwarzen und Personen of Colour) geleitete Black Obsidian Sound System (B.O.S.S.). Für das eigene Schaffen wurde Ifekoya vielfach ausgezeichnet – unter anderem mit dem Paul Hamlyn Award (2021), dem Kleinwort Hambros Emerging Artists Prize (2019) sowie dem Arts Foundation Award for Live Art (2017), gefördert durch den Yoma Sasberg Estate.

Evan Ifekoya präsentierte Ausstellungen, Filme und Performances im Vereinigten Königreich, in Europa und international – zuletzt unter anderem: „Feel The Sound“, Barbican, London (2025); „Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere“, 60. Biennale von Venedig; „Traces of Ecstasy“, ICA VCU, Richmond (Virginia), und Lagos Biennale (2024); Guest Artist Space, Lagos (2023) sowie „~Resonant Frequencies“, Migros Museum, Zürich (2022).

Für 2025 ist unter anderem die Premiere von „MODUPE“ geplant – ein neues experimentelles Dokumentarfilmprojekt, gefördert durch BFI Docs Society und Elephant Trust.

Evan Ifekoya awarded the 2025 Kaiserring Fellowship for Young Art
The Mönchehaus Museum Goslar has awarded the 2025 Kaiserring Fellowship to artist Evan Ifekoya. The decision of the expert jury honors Ifekoya’s outstanding, cross-media and research-based practice, which reflects and challenges societal realities in a multilayered manner. The jury was particularly impressed by Ifekoya’s sensitive yet powerful use of space and sound, evoking moments of spiritual resonance and healing. Ifekoya lives and works near London.

Evan Ifekoya (they / them) is a Spirit led artist and strength and embodiment practitioner exploring ancestry, belief and belonging through practices of self-archiving and blackness in abundance. Through their art, they hope to foster a deeper sense of connection and awareness, creating spaces where liberation and refuge are not just ideals but lived experiences.

They established the collectively run and QTIBPOC (queer, trans*, intersex, black and people of colour) led Black Obsidian Sound System (B.O.S.S.) in 2018. They were awarded the Paul Hamlyn bursary in 2021, the Kleinwort Hambros Emerging Artists Prize in 2019 and the Arts Foundation Award for Live Art sponsored by the Yoma Sasberg Estate in 2017.

They have presented exhibitions, moving image and performances across UK, Europe and Internationally, most recently:  ‘Feel The Sound’ at Barbican London (2025), ‘Stranieri Ovunque –Foreigners Everywhere’ 60th Venice Biennial, ‘Traces of Ecstasy’ ICA VCU Richmond Virginia and Lagos Biennial (2024), Guest Artist Space Lagos (2023) and ‘~Resonant Frequencies’, Migros Museum, Zurich (2022).

Upcoming presentations in 2025 include ‘MODUPE’, a new experimental documentary film supported by BFI Docs Society and Elephant Trust.
